The migration from Exchange to PantherMail is being delayed due to the re-organization of Information Technology Services. Because we are uncertain of the appropriate resources to complete the project, we feel it is in the University community's best interest to slow the process down. You may request single user migrations as needed however we will not be migrating large groups at this time. We are hopeful that we will be able to resume the large scale migrations in mid-October. EIU will be discontinuing the use of the Exchange Mail system due to Microsoft retiring Exchange 2003 standard support. Information Technology Services will be migrating all Exchange users to Panthermail beginning in May of 2009 with the project completion by December 2009.

This will be an opportunity for the entire campus community to be on one email/calendaring platform creating greater collaboration opportunities across campus. All employees will now be listed in the Global Address List. Employees will still have the option to use Microsoft Outlook as their email client.

When will this take place?

ITS is currently conducting research on the "backend" of the email system to ease the transition/migration. Upon completion of this stage, we will be contacting groups across campus to begin the migration process.

What do I need to do to prepare for the transition to PantherMail?

1. Delete - empty your "Deleted" items folder and clean out other folders.

3. Windows and Office updates need to be current.
4. Scan Your Computer With Symantec Anti-Virus and Super Anti-Spyware.
